The January release of the ISS Top 30 presents a fresh look of the Top 5 rankings; Aaron Ekblad (#1, previously ranked #2), Sam Reinhart (#2, previously ranked #1), Sam Bennett (#3, previously ranked #5), Michael Dal Colle (#4, previously ranked #3) and Willie Nylander (#5, previously ranked #4).
A superb showing on junior hockey’s biggest stage elevates Ekblad to ISS #1 prospect for January. “Ekblad was arguably the best defender for Canada, and we see him as a future captain and cornerstone defenseman down the road,” comments ISS Hockey Director of Scouting Dennis MacInnis. “No doubt, Ekblad’s transition into the NHL will be as smooth as any defenseman in the past decade, as his strength and maturity make him NHL ready right now.”
