ISS Hockey March Release: Rising and Falling

arrowsISS Hockey released ISS Top 30 for March, rankings of top prospects for the 2016 NHL Draft on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016. The following is a showcase of rising and falling prospects within March’s release:

RISING
Pierre-Luc Dubois (Cape Breton, QMJHL)
Continues to impress; plays a ton of quality minutes, PP, PK plus Centre’s 1st line. Bright future. Like his skill/passion/compete level. Will play at next level and have success.

Thompson, Tage (Connecticut, H.E.)
Brings a great deal of size, strength and offensive abilities right down the middle of the ice. He’s emerged as one of college hockey’s most dangerous freshman goal scorers. He’s also quite young for a freshman – he’s college hockey’s third youngest freshman this year.

Dahlen, Jonathan (Timra IK Jr., SweJr)
Skating has improved and he has developed as a player this season, probably the best or runner up to be selected as the best young player in Allsvenskan.

From, Mathias (Rogle BK, SweEl)
Centre with really good stride and puck skills. Was one of the team’s best players and provided most of the offence on a pretty weak Danish team at recent WJC.

Brooks, Adam (Regina, WHL)
Is the engine that makes Regina go – great vision and makes the players around him better – has dealt with adversity and come through with flying colours – Believe he could be a role guy at the NHL level down the road.

FALLING
Benson, Tyler (Vancouver, WHL)
Benson has a lot of tools to be a NHL player, however he has suffered an injury plagued season, and now finds himself on the shelf again this time for balance of the season.

Niemelainen, Markus (Saginaw, OHL)
More a case of others moving up than him dropping in rankings. Big lanky, smooth skating d-man. Doesn’t use his size to his advantage.

Mete, Victor (London, OHL)
Puck moving mobile defenseman. Not physical at all. Has trouble handling bigger players and gets beat too often. Size/strength is the obvious concern here.

Stransky, Simon (Prince Albert, WHL)
Good skills but limits the effectiveness because he doesn’t like to go inside. Has a tendency to play high and vacate early at times.
