Arizona-born forward Auston Matthews is expected to be selected first overall when the Toronto Maple Leafs take the stage at the draft and, for thefirst time in the new millennium, a Canadian might not be selected in the draft’s top five.

But Dennis MacInnis, the director of scouting for International Scouting Services (ISS) said there’s no reason to be concerned about the quality of players coming out of the Canadian Hockey League — or any other Canadian development stream for that matter.
